The city of Porto was considered by readers of the British magazine Food and Travel the “City of the Year”, beating the other two strong candidates Barcelona and London that occupy the 2nd and 3rd places respectively. An important recognition of the Porto brand in the international context and reinforces its positioning.

This was the 25th edition of the Food and Travel Reader Awards, a magazine dedicated to food, wine and travel that is based in London but has an international roll-out. The remaining votes were split between Edinburgh, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Vancouver and Vienna.

Among the winners of the remaining categories honored – restaurants, chefs, hotels, destinations, tour operators, cruise lines and airlines – there is another Portuguese representative on the list, the Six Senses Douro Valley, luxury hotel unit in Lamego, which ran for best hotel outside the UK.
